Today's Prescription: Limited time special offer to double donations that support the local Habitat for Humanity chapter!

Riverside Design Group is adding a new item to their repertoire of products that give back to our local community. Along with their Plates with Purpose collection, they have created a votive candle holder with the known, and beloved heart design that benefits Pittsburgh's Habitat for Humanity office.

Riverside donates 15% of their net sales of this product to Habitat. From now until Valentine's Day 2010, we are matching their donation! So, pick one of these up while you can! This votive will obviously make a perfect gift for someone you love this February 14th, but keep it in mind as a wonderful engagement, bridal shower, or birthday gift too! Did we mention this gift is eco-friendly too? Yes, it is made of recycled glass!

Also, to make this gift more substantial, we are offering to add some sweet treats from local candy shop The Chocolate Moose. You tell us how much you want to spend and we'll do the running to pick out some goodies!

Today's Prescription: Get a head start on your Valentine's Day shopping!

Here is a sweet and functional gift perfect for mothers, grandmothers, aunts, wives or any other special ladies you want to treat. Eucalyptus Stoneware, whom we have featured before on our blog, has a heart shaped basket that can be used all year 'round. The heart shape is subtle so it is absolutely not just appropriate for Valentine's Day. This piece serves as a perfect centerpiece, bread, or fruit basket. These oven safe products will keep your bread warm at the table for up to 20 minutes. We currently have the heart shaped basket in red, snow, and vanilla! We carry many more Eucalyptus products on our website as well.

Today's Prescription: Buy a gift that makes use of the revelry of the holiday season!

Sorry for the hiatus, but we had a busy holiday season. The doctor is back, however, and is looking forward to prescribing great gift ideas in 2010. We're kicking off the year by promoting a local Pittsburgh company. Mitchell Glassworks has found a fantastic use for glass bottles of many kinds! Vintage soda, wine, champagne, micro-brew bottles and more become spoon rests, cheese plates or even wall decor when heated and melted flat to create a smooth, durable surface. Paper labels will obviously melt off, but if the bottle has a painted label, it will remain and be part of the design. Soda and beer bottles make perfect spoon rests to use in the kitchen or outside by the grill. Larger bottles form into functional cheese plates that each come with a spreader.

These are perfect gifts for many occasions including housewarming, hostess, birthdays and more!

Pair a piece with a set of recycled glasses from The Green Glass Company for a complete and fabulous gift!
